Previous Whitman College Honors Theses
Sometimes looking at other theses can help give you ideas about the scope, arrangement, and depth of projects that qualified for Honors. The examples below are for theses in German Studies; you can also expand your search to other departments (such as history or philosophy, for example) if that could be relevant to your topic or approach. The most recent theses are available online. Theses written before 2014 are likely only available as physical copies; most are available to check out.
German theses in Penrose Library (search via Sherlock)
In the Sherlock advanced search, use the subject terms "dissertation collection" and "German". This will show honors theses from the German/German Studies department. If you want to expand beyond German/German Studies, you can set the subject term to be "dissertation collection" and set a keyword to be "German philosophy," "German history," or the name of a relevant author, artist, historical figure or event, etc.
Digital theses in ARMINDA
Honors theses from 2014 on are available online in ARMINDA. You can restrict your search to German Studies theses by clicking on "show more" under the department list, and then clicking on the German Studies link. You can also search by keyword across the Honors Thesis collection to find relevant work from other departments.
