Whitman Undergraduate Conference: Formatting Guidelines

Recommended file types

In order to submit your files, you must ensure that they are in a file format that we can ingest and save in ARMINDA (as opposed to Google docs or slides, which live only on Google servers). If you have created your materials in Google, you should be able to download them from Google as a Word or Power Point file or as a PDF. (Do double check that everything looks correct when you do this.) We recommend that you submit your materials in PDF/A format so that your work remains uniformly accessible across different platforms (Mac vs. PC) for a longer period of time. PDF/A format checks to make sure that the file has all the information it needs to render its type and images, as well as headings for the document structure. PDF/A formatting can actually be easier to create from Word or Power Point than from a PDF itself. While we strongly encourage PDF/A, we may be able to accept a plain PDF.

If you have other supporting materials that cannot be saved as PDF, the ARMINDA author FAQ has information on what additional file formats we can support. Please contact Amy Blau in the library with any questions about file formats for submission to ARMINDA.

Please make sure that your last name is part of the file name for all files you submit. For example, if I wanted to submit both a PDF of my slides and a PDF of the text of my presentation, I would submit a file called Blau_slides.pdf and a second file called Blau_text.pdf. (You can choose to submit either slides or text or both for presentations.)
