Can a librarian still come to my class?
Yes! We can do asynchronous or synchronous sessions with you. We have been preparing over the summer to coordinate how to make our one-shots work online. Please contact Lee Keene (email@example.com) to schedule a class.
How can I/my class get help from a librarian?
We can be contacted via email or chat. Chat is monitored by reference librarians from 9-5, Monday through Friday. We can set up a video call to have the same sort of reference support we would give in a meeting in our office, and this could be assigned the same way you might assign a library visit (particularly for Senior Seminars this could be useful so that we can work on any access issues).
I need a PDF of a reading for my class and the e version doesn’t have PDFs (HathiTrust).
Submit an ILL request for the part of the reading that you need and we will supply it as soon as possible. Copyright restrictions still apply. Questions? Contact Jen Pope (firstname.lastname@example.org).
How can my class watch a movie?
Contact Roger Stelk (email@example.com), who can explore options we may have.
Can I put material on reserve for my class?
We have suspended print reserves for the fall semester. You may request a digital copy of material using our reserve request form. If you have any questions, please contact Julie Carter, Head of User Services, (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Can I check out a book?
If you are in Walla Walla, you can use our porch pickup service. If you or your student are not in Walla Walla, we are still handling digitization requests, but we can only provide portions of books. (Information on both services can the Accessing Print Materials tab)
Can I get materials from other schools (Summit)?
Summit services are currently not available.
Can I use Interlibrary Loan?
Digital resources, such as articles and book chapters, are available through ILL.
Are the Archives open or available?
The Archives will be closed to researchers throughout the Fall 2020 semester. Students and faculty are encouraged to direct questions regarding the Archives to email@example.com. During closure, Archives staff can answer reference questions, digitize reasonable amounts of materials, provide one-on-one research consultations, or visit class sessions virtually. Overall, we want to support teaching and research with our collections during this extended closure, and can work with you to find equitable solutions.
Can I browse the library’s book stacks virtually?
Yes! There are multiple ways to browse using Sherlock. See our guide to browsing for more information.
