Music 299: Music Since 1900

This guide is designed to stimulate and facilitate topic selection for your final paper. It provides content from library collections, as well as many from publicly-available sources from the Library of Congress that will help you begin to develop a topic. 

Library Sessions:

Wednesday, Sept. 7: Introductory Session, meet in Penrose Archives (lower-level of Penrose). See the Pre-Archives Exercise tab of this guide for an assignment due in class that day.

Wednesday, Sept. 21: Library session on Research Methods and Secondary Sources (meet in CTL classroom on 3rd floor of Penrose - a.k.a. the fishbowl). 

  • bring written list of 1-2 topic ideas
  • bring laptop if available

Wednesday, Oct. 5: Deadline for one-on-one research consultation with Ben Murphy.

  • submission of bibliography and 2-3 paragraph research proposal due at least 3 days before scheduled meeting
